Hello! My name is Taylor White and I am the girl in the green skirt. I graduated Bowling Green State University in 2013 with a degree in environmental science with a minor in sustainability. After moving back to Chicago I tried to find my niche in the environmental world. In late 2016 I changed careers into the energy efficiency world and I knew I had found my place. While working in the sustainability field I also learned that green is my signature color. When I would pick out an outfit for an event it would always incorporate the color green. People started referring to me as "The Girl in the Green Skirt" and I knew I could wear that title with pride.
In addition to my day-job in the energy engineering field I also serve on the Illinois Green Alliance Emerging Professionals Committee as co-chair and energy efficiency ambassador. Under the Illinois Green Alliance (formerly the U.S. Green Building Council) I also serve on the volunteer committee for Greenbuild 2018. Greenbuild is the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building and will be hosted in Chicago, Illinois in November 2018. Outside of the Illinois Green Alliance umbrella I also serve as a public volunteer program volunteer at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.
Outside of my many activities and work life like similar to every late-twenties girl I enjoy fashion and shopping. Nothing makes me smile more than finding a great item on sale! My closet contains a multitude of green items. I wanted to create a glob (green blog) to encompass all of my passions: sustainability, emerging professional advice, and fashion. Thus, the girl in the green skirt website was born!
This green blog is 100% for fun and is not involved with any utility, state, or company.
